DIVE or DIE – Children of Rain is an exciting underwater survival game that will lead you all the way to the heart of a hostile, alien ocean. In this game, players combine oxygen control, deep-sea exploration, and primal fear into a fast-paced, deadly roguelike that will keep your heart pounding. You are a castaway from a scientific expedition ship, and you have been shipwrecked in a waterworld, where a ceaseless torrential downpour is keeping the surface level, so you have no choice but to dive and survive the ocean. The central part of the game involves “oxygen discipline”: your diving suit has a limited air supply, and the only options you have are to surface or look for underwater air pockets. Your “pressure gauge” is constantly being monitored by you; the deeper you go without upgrades may lead to a breakdown of your diving suit, a sudden and fatal release of pressure due to decompression, and even permanent destruction or bodily harm. “Bioluminescence” is the only means of illumination; you need to gather glowing algae to charge your flares, which can serve two purposes: repel the predators or attract them, and also uncover hidden passages or treasure. There aren’t many fights, and those that you have are horrifying; a harpoon is your only tool of offence, along with a sonic emitter, which you can use to distract or deter a predator. You will discover the world through five diverse abyssal biomes: the Kelp Forests, the Coral Labyrinth, the Sulfur Vents, the Abyssal Plains, and the Sunken City, each characterised by its own unique type of ecosystem, set of hazards, and supply of resources.
