Infinitevania is a randomly generated action-platformer that completely reboots the classic Metroidvania genre. It combines a few hand-designed levels, non-stop warfare, and an ability-based game system for players’ long-term enjoyment in just one game. The whole idea is that the player can play in such a way that the game can never be the same twice, and it can always provide a great new gameplay experience. In this, you are the main hero, able to customize your character, whose “void shard” allows you to unlock different abilities of the hero; a great example would be wall-clinging, getting through barriers, and dashing through the air. All of them open new passages in future runs and reveal other secrets. There is a lot to do in combat. It’s fast-paced and precise, focusing on making light and heavy attacks work well together, parrying enemies’ strikes, and using “soul bursts” (crowd-controlling area-of-effect abilities that use defeated foes as resources) to handle enemies en masse. The game takes place in an ominous setting that consists of one big world with many smaller interconnected areas. The game has five biome themes: Crystal Depths, Fungal Hollows, Ember Forge, Storm Spire, and Void’s Edge. Each biome includes unique enemy groups, dangers posed by surroundings, and visual design aspects. The “relic system” offers permanent rewards through thorough exploration, such as higher health, faster stamina recovery, and more serious damage. The multiplayer part involves “ghost races”, a mode where two players run through the same procedurally generated set of levels to see who gets through faster. The character stays dead permanently after he dies in the game (this is “permadeath”). The collected relics will last you through all future runs of the game.
