Ore Factory Squad is the kind of game where cooperation is key, and players get to team up to manage a futuristic mining operation. In total, four players are working together to extract resources at the same time, handling logistics by managing conveyor belts and other machinery, and trying to keep aliens from attacking the base or causing too much damage. The main activity of the game is a bit like optimising a supply chain: you collect the raw ores, heat them in the furnace to make ingots, then put those ingots together into more advanced parts while dealing with conveyor belts, belt splitters, and storage bins to increase the rate of production and make sure all orders are met. A major part of the game is the abilities of each team member being based on a different role: the Engineer can fix broken machinery, the Scout can spot the best deposits and guide the others there, the Defender can raise forcefields to block enemies while the Hauler can carry a lot of items with them and that means the team has to rely on each other when handling sudden spikes of the need. Exploring will be done in different parts of the mining complex. It is a pretty large facility with multiple levels that are divided into five different areas: Mining Pit that houses all the drills, Processing Plant where ores are transformed into metal through heat, Assembly Line where parts are created using the available resources, Research Lab which is where most alien activity takes place, and the Deepest Core that should really be considered dangerous due to how far underground it goes and how hot it probably is and thus any attempt to explore should probably be avoided except for extremely well-prepared teams and only after having thoroughly investigated the area from the outside first. As for the “upgrade tree,” it is pretty self-explanatory: you can improve your equipment by making your drills produce more, your splitters sort the materials better, and your smelters work more efficiently through various technological advancements that each require materials of a specific type for the completion of the upgrade. Ore Factory Squad will support a co-op multiplayer game either locally or over the internet and will also have a “trade” feature to share resources between the players that makes it possible for a player to send a few raw materials to another player in need, which is especially helpful when resources are scarce in one area. A feature that might make a difference to the overall feel of the game is that if a character fails to reach their goal, there are no consequences like losing the game, so that is actually a bit of a relief after you fail several times and get a little bit frustrated.
