Stonewards is a tactical tower defence and strategy game set in a fantasy world that is rapidly deteriorating, in which you lead a legion of living stone creatures to defend ancient strongholds against large numbers of chaotic beasts. The main aspect of the game centres on “construct deployment and synergy” – you have to strategically position different kinds of stone guards (such as archers, berserkers and mages) on a grid-based battlefield, each of which has its own method of attack, elemental traits and ways to upgrade them – while at the same time managing your limited resources and adjusting to the make-up of the enemy waves. The “earth-shaping” feature enables you to build walls, set up chokepoints, and carry out environmental attacks to change the course of the battle. A “rune economy” tracks the energy required to summon and upgrade units, which you earn by defeating enemies and capturing nodes. The “multiplayer” section has a “siege duel” mode in which two players build, deploy, and attack at the same time.
