Survival Log is a survival game that is minimalist in style and relies on text, taking place in a remote and unexplored wilderness where you have to record your progress by means of a series of journal entries while at the same time managing your limited resources, the unpredictable weather, and your own mental condition. The main element of the game is ‘resource allocation’ since each day you have to decide how to use your energy—on foraging, hunting, building shelter, or exploring—and each of your choices affects your health, hunger, and sanity. The ‘weather system’ introduces changing conditions such as rain, snow, and heatwaves, all of which affect your chances of survival. Exploration takes place on procedurally generated maps and includes five biomes—the Dense Forest, the Rocky Highlands, the Marshlands, the Frozen Tundra, and the Abandoned Coast—each with its own resources and dangers. The game has no multiplayer, but it includes ‘community logs’ that let players share their survival experiences.
