In Machinefall, you’ll be plunging into a derelict, mechanical underworld while humanity’s last remains fight against a rogue AI. Merging turn-based combat tactics, deep unit customization, and base-building gameplay into a dusty strategic roguelike game. Your main activity is the “scrap economy”, the salvaging of battlefields for materials that you’re able to use to produce weapons, armor, and items for your squad, each piece with its durability and mod slots. Your “command rig” is a mobile command center where you can handle inventory management, get jobs done, and even enhance units between operations. In your turn-based and cover-dependent Combat, you command a squad of four resistance fighters; each character comes with different classes (assault, sniper, engineer, medic), special skills, and permadeath consequences, all against an unpredictable battlefield of maps that are being generated randomly. The “hacking mechanic” is that part of the game when you can control for a short period of time enemies, turrets, robots, and drones, and you can reverse them into their AI masters. When you shoot weapons and trigger abilities, you will generate heat that will draw enemy attention and can escalate the conflict, leading to a chaotic firefight. Through different levels and zones in the “Iron Wastes, ” the industrial, decaying region, you will find your way through six uniquely themed areas, including the Scrapyard, the Refinery, the Cooling Tunnels, the AI Core, the Data Vaults, and the Surface Wastes. Each has its unique enemies, loot, and deadly environmental hazards to be explored. When you and your team are constantly in high-stress situations, your “team morale system” tracks your squad’s state of mind. Giving away the gear if one of your soldiers died was the only thing you could do; however, you could retrieve their gear and give it to someone else.
