SIGILLVM: RESONANCE is a trance-like, first-person puzzle adventure in which the player descends into the depths of an alive, constantly-changing cathedral where sound is both a means of entry and a weapon, fusing acoustic archaeology with dreamlike traversal and a mesmerising ambient score for an unforgettable experience. At the heart of the game lies “resonance tuning”, you get a tuning fork in your hand that, through the use of precise frequencies which only you have power to decide upon through trial and error, will be played against those of old, long forgotten, yet still vibrating, seals each of which will open a passageway, reveal a secret platform or calm down its angry, music-sensing guards with a suitable melody. Your “soundscape map” is a tool that will show the geometric pattern of the sounds around you; it will emphasize areas of silence, the areas where echoes get amplified, and even highlight those where a sound is distorted, and you cannot hear what you have played. Only by learning this map can you progress through that particular section of the world. The environment around you, known as the “malleable architecture” system, is also responsive to sound.
