Goblin Sushi is a game that immerses the players in the chaotic, fire-lit kitchen of an underground sushi restaurant where a band of crazy, green-skinned goblins must serve the demanding monster clientele while they are fighting the exploding ingredients, naughty kitchen imps, and their own lack of skills. The gameplay is a frantic, physics-based co-op cooking game where up to four players can take on different goblin roles, from the Slasher who wildly hacks giant fish to the Roller who tries to make perfect maki with the hands that are twitchy and uncoordinated. The main thing is that you laugh your way into controlled chaos; orders come from strange customers like gelatinous cubes who want “wobbly” rolls and trolls that insist their rice is “extra burnt, ” thus you have to change your crude techniques while dealing with a kitchen where the pots are boiling over, knives are flying, and the occasional health inspector, terrifying armored dwarf, makes surprise visits. The solo “Goblin Gumption” meter goes up as you do combos successfully, enabling one player to unleash a temporary “Frenzy” mode during which all goblins move at double speed, which is sure to bring about even more spectacular failures. In between, you can renovate your kitchen with doubtful gadgets like self-stirring cauldrons that sometimes explode and conveyor belts that occasionally move in the opposite direction, all paid with the tips that you get from the confused but happy customers.
