Cybertaxi: Lunatic Nights lets players experience the rain-slicked, neon-drenched streets of a sprawling cyberpunk metropolis. Here, the character of a freelance cab driver for the city’s most dangerous and eccentric nocturnal clientele is played by you. The game is a mixture of driving the car in a very tense and realistic manner and the player’s interacting with the game world. Players are required to deftly maneuver through the maze-like, traffic-heavy districts while at the same time dealing with the talks of a diverse group of passengers. These are not only the chatty AIs but also the paranoid hackers, the augmented gangsters, and the corporate defectors. These characters not only have urgent stories to share but also could be mere fronts for a host of hidden agendas, and could be a source of becoming a friend, a foe, or even a fatal threat.

Every action you take is important: selecting the best routes when you are in a hurry, determining whether to release off-the-books “special deliveries” and moving through dialogue trees simultaneously are just a few actions that can lead to several different outcomes such as receiving a tip, progressing a narrative branch, or starting a conflict with a rival driver or a corrupt enforcement drone. The city itself is a persistent, reactive character, with a dynamic event system generating emergent gameplay like dodging police barricades, escaping territorial disputes, and racing against the clock to deliver sensitive cargo before the perpetual night gives way to a hostile dawn.
