Bloody Trains casts players as a railway dispatcher in a dystopian, war-torn diesel-punk world where managing trains, ensuring survival, and fighting tactically are intertwined into a continuous, high-stakes challenge. The main gameplay mechanic is ‘resource routing’, directing a fleet of heavily armored trains that must transport vital supplies (ammo, medical kits, fuel, and food) between fortified points while dealing with attacks from bandits, artillery fire, and sabotage. Trains are made up of modular cars: gunner platforms, heavy armor plating, medical bays, or storage holds, but more weight results in higher fuel consumption and less speed, so you are forced to compromise between defense and efficiency. A ‘track integrity’ mechanic tracks the state of the rails; raids by enemies, weather conditions, or excessive use can wear down tracks, leading to derailments that require urgent repairs with the onboard equipment and scarce spare parts. The fight is real-time and tactical: players alternate between a top-down map for route planning and a side-view combat mode where they aim turrets, fire mortars, or use defensive measures such as smoke screens and flare decoys. The game features five devastated biomes (the Scorched Plains, the Ashwood Forest, the Frozen Tundra, the Acid Swamps, and the Ruined Metropolis), each presenting players with different threats such as minefields, sniper nests, or toxic gas clouds. The ‘morale system’ is an element that changes how well your team fights; getting wounded, running dangerously low on supplies, or failing to complete missions lowers morale and results in slower reloads and worse aim.
