Decktamer​‍​‌‍​‍‌ is a deck-building roguelike that offers fans a whole new experience because the game symbiotically focuses on taming and fusion of the cards in your hand. The game thus almost changes a static library into a living, breathing ecosystem of creatures you command directly on the battlefield. The first thing you’ll do on a new run in Decktamer is choose a primal “Source Card”—this is your main creature by whose nature you’ll play your character. The game then leads you to procedurally generated biomes where you’ll be able to meet wild card spirits. Instead of just adding them to your deck, you must tame these spirits via a tactical minigame or resource offering; afterwards, they will become your family members equipped with their own health, experience levels, and unlockable abilities, which will get stronger after the battles. Combat is a two-dimensional puzzle. You have to place your tamed creatures on a grid-based field where their attacks will be directed. Their unique skills are activated in real time, while at the same time, you manage a shared energy pool to cast powerful spell cards that can buff your allies, alter the terrain, or disrupt the enemy lines. The game’s signature “Fusion Lab” gives you the chance to mix two tamed creatures in a ritual between matches, thus creating a robust, hybrid offspring that inherits traits from both parents; this results in ideas reaching near-infinite strategic possibilities and deeply personalised builds.
