American Fugitive is an action game with a top-down, open-world format that takes place in a rural American county in the 1980s, involving you playing the role of a man who has been wrongly convicted and is now on the run as he tries to clear his name while avoiding the police. The main part of the game centres on “crime and evasion” — you have to commit heists, burglaries, and car thefts to collect evidence and money, while at the same time dealing with a heat system that increases after each crime and causes police chases, roadblocks, and helicopter surveillance. The “investigation” feature encourages exploration and interrogation, gradually revealing the conspiracy behind your arrest. The “multiplayer” section includes a “co-op crime” mode where two players plan and carry out heists together.
