PAKO 3 is brand new, and it throws its signature destruction from a top-down flight into a crazy, co-operative heist, the core loop of which is a high-stakes ballet of robbing and escaping. The players aren’t just fugitives anymore; they become a crew of getaway drivers responsible for breaking into large, multi-story places like a casino or a mall, tearing through the walls to grab bags of money while a never-ending, oncoming police force descends.

The greatness is in the very easy switching between scales: you can move around the small and destructible indoor areas in third-person mode, but as soon as you open the doors to the parking lot, the camera changes to a classic PAKO top-down view, thus the escape becomes a frantic top-down flight across the parking lot that is very big and full of obstacles to get to the extraction van.

So you get a very exciting game between the slow and heartfelt stealing inside that is followed by the outburst of the players’ heart rate and screeching of their tires outside, where player cooperation can save you—one player can use a SWAT team for a diversion and thus create a waste of time while another gets the last loot. Then this is followed by a rush to the escape car that happens at the same time, and in which the screen is full of police cars, helicopters, and explosions.
