Dexter: The Game is a brilliant adaptation of the main conflict in the series, where you are involved in a tense and slow gameplay, which is, on one hand, a forensic investigation and, on the other hand, a predatory stalking. The game of Dexter Morgan’s “Code of Harry” is the base of the whole game; thus, players are required to function in two different, but parallel worlds – the public one of a Miami Metro forensics analyst and the private one of a vigilante serial killer. As Dexter, you are required to meticulously comb through grisly crime scenes for tiny traces of evidence. By using the first-person view to dust for fingerprints, blood spatter analysis, and DNA extraction, you do the identification of your next target, who is, in fact, the police department that is after them.

The moment a subject is confirmed, the scene is changed to a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse, where you are to silently follow your prey without them noticing, study their habits until the perfect moment for the strike, and secretly bring them to your “killing room,” which you have already prepared. The high point of every mission is not only the execution but also the a ritualistic and interactive cutscene, where you have to perform a set of quick-time events correctly to restrain the victim, give the anesthetic, and then, with your signature tools, do the sentencing, all of this, while keeping the cold and precise control which is characteristic of the Dark Passenger.

This careful pacing, which requires you to accomplish your violent end with patience, intelligence, and stealth, and not with senseless violence, is the one that shows the scary and calculating side of the character to the audience, most unlike any other action game.
