Bloody Hallowfest is a mad, grimly funny survival-horror game about a cursed amusement park where it is still Halloween and the rides have become hungry for blood. Players take on the role of a visitor who got caught and must navigate through hordes of evil clowns, possessed animatronics, and eldritch trick-or-treaters using a combination of energy candy and a pumpkin-throwing trebuchet as their crazy weaponry. Each time the park’s layout changes, the scary rides, such as The Infernal Ferris Wheel and The Bone Rattler roller coaster, turn into battlefields. Weird “Carnage Events” spawn never-seen-before horrors, a sudden zombie walking festival, or a fight with a car park’s crazed impersonating, shapeshifting character, Uncle Skelly, are some of these.
Mechanics of survival in a game are mixed with the dark sense of humour—the players may briefly trick enemies into being harmless by feeding “Soul Candy” or even call a ghost army by breaking ancient carnival mirrors. Bloody Hallowfest, with its gritty comic-book-like look and synthesiser-driven Halloween punk soundtrack, ridicules spooky-season clichés, thus creating a wild and endlessly replayable game where the only solution to escape is survival until midnight… if the clock has not stopped.
