Barro is a high-octane, futuristic racing game that, combined with the speed of light-speed and gravity-defying mechanics, has made it a pulse-pounding adrenaline rush incomparable with any traditional racer. The setting of this game was neon-illuminated cyberpunk cities, flying sky tracks, and dangerous alien places where players controlled very advanced hover vehicles that could change from land to air mode in the middle of a race. The main gameplay is about gaining control of dynamic momentum—accomplished drifts, close calls with obstacles, and aerial tricks replenish a boost meter that gives access to limited-time warp-speed dashes, or anti-gravity flips to get ahead of the competitors.

Every track is full of shortcuts whose execution demands high precision of timing, like, for example, bridges that are going to collapse, lanes that change due to magnetism, and loops without gravity where racers will be able to keep their position only if they adjust their thrusters manually. Furthermore, the game has a ‘Rivalry System’ where AI rivals can change their driving character by your driving style; they can become either more aggressive or defensive, depending on the history of the encounter.

The multiplayer modes are Eclipse Grand Prix, which is a battle-royale elimination race where the race track disappears behind those who are at the back of the pack, and Gear Wars, in which racers can arm themselves with modular weapons, such as EMP bursts and gravity mines to confuse the foes.
