Metal Slug Tactics brings turn-based tactical RPG mechanics to the Metal Slug universe with pixel art visual design. Located on a strategical map with a square-based perspective, it combines a basic strategy setting with the unlimited madness of Metal Slug. There are six playable characters on land: Marco, Tarma, Eri, and Fio. Everyone has his/her own abilities and equipped weapons, which can be upgraded during the mission. Most important, of course, are movement and position: an important part of it is getting into a more favorable position and maintaining line of sight for shooting, and another part is planning and executing attacks that will chain together into combos with the enemy unit in the receiving end.
Human AP stands for action points, and it leaves the players with the task of controlling how many resources they are willing to spend at a given time, whether to launch a special attack, use some elements of the environment, or build up the AP defense. The procedures also include the concept of a roguelike game, where the game level is not permanent but tends to generate a new one each time. That’s not to mention the combo meter that fills up for ultimate moves, and Metal Slug Tactics ensures that every fight is exciting and rewarding.
The fun of the original series is not lost in spectacular animations, a destructible environment, and a pervasive sense of urgency while you fight through hordes of soldiers, tanks, and bosses. With a mix of strategy and mayhem, Metal Slug is a new, entertaining game that will be interesting for strategy game lovers, as well as for fans of the series.
