There exists a game called Kenshi, which is an open-world sandbox RPG that has liberated players into a brutal, unforgiving, yet morale-boosting game environment set in a liberalized and lawless wasteland. Unlike many games today, where the player is led through a linear narrative of a game, Kenshi offers a breathing world of survival, discovery, and open choices. The player begins with no allies and basic abilities, simulating the amnesia trope; the character is on their own and can only hunt for experience, horde, and resources while facing threats from factions, nomad raiders, and wildlife. Freewill is evident when playing the game since the player is able to choose his/her model of the game—a trader, a mercenary, a slave, or even a faction.

Every beginner should follow this so that there will be a place to get resources and friends, plant for food, and fend off attackers. Encounters are tactical and brutal, and permanent injuries and consequent realistic healing time lay a dense layer of conflict. It also has a party-based system allowing the player to hire and level up followers, each with his unique abilities to make a very strong team. Being an Action RPG with a focus on actual players’ decisions, Kenshi dares the players to be the ones to find their own way that matters in a grim and as close to reality as possible world.
