Killing Floor 2 throws the player into the heart of Europe, where an experiment by Horzine Biotech led to a disastrous outbreak that rapidly escalated, casting chaos on the whole continent. The game is set one month after the original game, and the mutated clones now roam free. Society lies in shambles: communications are down, governments have collapsed, and military defences have been overwhelmed. Many Europeans have resorted to survival tactics, while luckier ones have managed to hide. Hope comes in the form of a coalition of resourceful civilians and mercenaries who have established guerrilla operations all over Europe to monitor and eliminate the outbreaks. Players enter this resistance to scan the more heavily infected areas with the purpose of destroying the Zed problem and bringing some semblance of control back into the world.
