Lucid Blocks is a dreamy, physics-based puzzle game where you manipulate blocks and solve puzzles with a pinch of dream logic. You take a child role who is a major part of the game of circular play. They are wandering through a subconscious world that is always changing, and where each object serves as a building block to the impossible. The gameplay consists of a relaxing and meditative cycle of discovery, building, and changing through dream states. It is done only with your imagination and the blocks that come out of your thoughts. The starting point of the game is a tiny and freshly made dreamscape, which is a soft pastel-colored void comprising floating islands, shelled orbs, and geometric shapes that hum with such energy as if they are waiting to be utilized. The main loop becomes a lovely, surprise-inducing puzzle: you have to alter the environment by summoning, stacking, and connecting “Lucid Blocks, ” which come in the forms of cubes, spheres, pyramids, and more, each having different physical properties such as mass, buoyancy, and resonance. What makes the game stand out is its implementation of the “dream logic” system. After all, blocks are not simply a kind of racing vehicle or a resource, but are a part of and respond to your intent. A lightly placed block might float upwards. On the other hand, a slammed one might create a shock wave that changes structures nearby. A red block may give off warmth and melt icy platforms; a blue one may freeze water and create solid paths, while a yellow one may cast light and thereby reveal hidden passages that are in the dark. Last but not least, “puzzle” creation is a nice touch, mainly due to the fact that it has been developed so well by allowing the player to continuously think about and experiment with the interrelations between physics, color, and dream logic. You may be asked first to stack a few blue blocks, then use the red one to melt the ice holding the stack, and finally, the toppling of the stack will give you the bridge you need to cross a gap. On another occasion, you can be required to float on a platform made of yellow blocks; thereafter, you can be expected to use the green block to grow a vine that will connect the platform to a faraway island.
