Cultist Simulator is a compelling, text-heavy, and immersive card game that allows you to play the role of a seeker of forbidden knowledge in a 1920s alternate history. Gameplay is a unique mix of resource management, narrative discovery, and strategic planning with the help of a deck of cards representing your actions, influences, and followers. At first, you are a simple worker or a scholar, but your interest gets you into the hidden world. The core loop is a cycle of experimentation, discovery, and escalation. You drag cards representing your character’s available time and “Health” into slots on the board to perform actions like working, studying, or exploring. Completing these actions can generate “Lore” cards, which are fragments of forbidden knowledge, or attract “Influence” cards, which represent the whispers of the occult. As your knowledge of the game’s arcane rules deepens, you start building your cult.
