Max Payne 1 earned its spot in the gaming hall of fame by completely reshaping the third-person shooter genre. Its introduction of the “Bullet-Time” mechanic allowed players to experience shooting scenes like a slow-motion, war-like dance, adding a certain level of artistry to what are generally non-stop gunfights in a gritty, crime-noir setting. As Max Payne, the main character, you are a DEA agent who has been wrongly accused of a murder and is devastated by the loss that the tragic event has brought. Your journey will take you to a cold, snow-covered, and deteriorating New York City, where you will be involved in a bloodshed-filled night. The whole point is to create very cinematic and heroic moments just like in the movies. Fighting is very intense and full of desperation; you can take cover in the most realistic way possible and use a whole lot of different weapons from the history of the game.
