WWE​‍​‌‍​‍‌ 2K20 was a somewhat transitional type of game in the wrestling simulation series that had several ambitious features but also suffered from a lot of technical issues related to its new graphics engine. The core gameplay of the franchise remained the same, with the addition of historic mixed-gender tag team matches and the supernatural 2K Originals DLC with themed story content like “Bump in the Night.” Besides, the Creation Suite was further expanded with more detailed customisation tools, and the MyCareer mode with dual protagonists following original characters Red and Tre through an interconnected narrative became more engaging.

On the other hand, these improvements were overshadowed by various technical problems, such as an unpredictable physics system, character model glitches, and unstable performance, which made match flow difficult. Although the game includes the Four Horsewomen Showcase and revamped WWE Towers challenges, the title’s heritage is still mostly associated with the transition to the series’ development and the resulting technical ​‍​‌‍​‍‌issues.
