WWE​‍​‌‍​‍‌ 2K15 was essentially a year of rebuilding the franchise from the ashes. The game went next-gen with new consoles and a brand-new graphics engine, along with gameplay that was more simulation-focused. The game presented the Chain Wrestling system that used strategic rock-paper-scissors mechanics to start matches. The reversal system was limited and replaced the previously unlimited counters with strategic resource management. 2K Showcase was a new mode in the game with its documentary-style presentation telling the story of rivalries like CM Punk vs. John Cena.

MyCareer mode came with RPG-style progression, starting from NXT to going to the main roster. Predator Technology was used in the game for very highly detailed character models and arenas. The simplified creation suite still had the core customisation tools but was changed to suit the new engine. The working hold system added realistic resting spots as well as stamina management. The career mode got the fan interaction and the rivalry systems. The better audio design also got the crowd to react more and the commentary to be ​‍​‌‍​‍‌enhanced.
