VEIN​‍​‌‍​‍‌ is a biological-horror action game that puts players in the shoes of a living, engineered bio-weapon. As the power source is a symbiotic network of parasitic veins, players are tasked with the strategic cultivation and weaponization of said veins. At the core of the gameplay is a “Bio-Feedback” system, which is dynamic and is unlike that of traditional games, where there are weapons or mana. Instead, one has to channel their own vital signs to combat. By increasing the heart rate through movement, which is also aggressive, one can thus pay for offensive mutations that are destructive, such as tendrils that can smash bones or acidic projectiles that can be barbs.

Conversely, lowering the heart rate through breathing can be protective carapaces or even invisibility for stealth can be formed. Thus, the player is going to be continuously engaging in a high-risk, high-reward combat loop where they are managing their physiology, in which they raise their heart rate to the point of cellular failure to unleash great power.
