StarRupture reinvents the cosmic strategy genre, and its gameplay is based on the unstable cycle-based physics of a dying galaxy in which players lead a fleet of biomechanical harvesters to capitalize on the star collapse phenomena and, at the same time, navigate a delicate ecosystem of scavengers and cosmic predators. The formula goes around “Stellar Triage”: locating stars that are unstable and about to go supernova, effectively using gravity tethers and energy siphoners to break their cores for huge resource yields, and finally, running away right before the shockwave destroys your fleet. Against this backdrop, there is a conflict emerging driven by factions. Every resource taken out affects the galactic economy and increases the risk of encounters with pirates, corporate enforcers, or the predatory “Void Shriekers,” silent hunters attracted to stellar disturbances.
