Skewer Squad radically reinvents the standard tower defense game by turning it into a chaotic, physics-based extravaganza where your defenses are not just simple towers but a bunch of super-mobile, customizable frog warriors equipped with giant skewers and eager for bug blood. It is a hectic mix of real-time strategy and third-person action game. You are a frog commander character and give orders to your squad that you need to place properly to take down the waves of large insects coming to your hive along the path. The main feature is the “Skewer” system, each frog uses a huge, extendable lance that can impale several enemies if the frogs are well timed, and physics makes the skewered bugs slam into each other, thus ragdolling, swinging, and perhaps eventually hitting and damaging the next waves of enemies. After returning to your base, you can enhance your squad with new abilities, such as explosive-tipped skewers, poison coatings, or the power to leap and slam the ground, and also recruit different frog classes, including heavy defenders with huge shields and quick scouts who can skewer enemies from afar. The environment is a full interactive one; you can utilize traps, bring down bridges onto the mobs, or even use your skewer to toss enemies into environmental hazards like spikes, pits or pools of acid. This engaging, hands-on method of playing tower defense, along with the cute amphibian characters and the deep levelling system, together yield a one-of-a-kind active and deeply satisfying strategy game in which every wave is an opportunity to perform gymnastics and physics-based carnage.
