Ravenfield builds a fantastic single-player experience with many units and large-scale battlefields on a team of protagonists and antagonists. It has people with intelligence for enemies and friends in the center of the missions, which makes the defeating part chaotic but realistic. The players can select every weapon, vehicle, and tactical option available – they can fight with a rifle or rocket launcher, in the tank, or in the helicopter. The battle happens on vast terrains representing different environments, like hills, cities, or the coast, thus providing essentially different perspectives. Players can control their team to win by requesting two points: defeating enemies and attacking or defending with a car. Hence, the responsiveness of AI guarantees that two consecutive games, for instance, have a different level of difficulty that keeps the game interesting.
Another aspect of Ravenfield is that the game only includes one map, and it is open-world and customizable at will, depending on the player’s preferences. The game modding supports an active community whereby more weapons, vehicles, maps, and gameplay modes and mechanics can be included to the game. This specificity of Hunter’s combined with simple but still highly involved game mechanics make it an interesting match for essential and hardcore audiences.
The art design is simple to render with vibrant square-shaped characters that add a creative flair and do not trouble the computer’s performance even under heavy combat scenarios. Whether players are zipping across the map in short firefights or planning out their strategies at the strategic level, Ravenfield provides an interesting amount of playability and fun for fans of battlefield-style gameplay.
