LORT​‍​‌‍​‍‌ takes card battlers normally seen as strategic games and sets them up as a tactical positional skirmish game where players control a warband made up of iconic League of Legends champions and units, drawn by hand, moving them on a hexagon-based map. The game thus mixes the deck-building strategy with real-time tactical command. The game play is done simultaneously but turn-based: you build your squad from a hand of cards (units and spells) that you choose, place unit cards on the field, and move your champions to flank the enemies, get to the high ground and thus have the upper hand, and also to activate powerful positional combinations based on regions and class to which the units belong. The main feature is the “Mana Leyline” system, which is not a static mana gem but a flowing resource. It can be spent to upgrade in-play units, cast powerful spells from your hand, or just be saved so that when a champion uses his ultimate at a critical moment, it will be extremely powerful. Each game match is a mental battle of trying to get ahead, as you try to figure out your opponent’s moves, bluff with your mana reserves, and change your tactics depending on the new conditions on the board.
