Live Hard, Die Hard is an extreme action-survival game that focuses on a Dynamic Environmental Weaponisation System that turns literally any item in a skyscraper on fire into a potential weapon, either for attack or defence. The main gameplay is a Permanent Injury and Adrenaline Resource Loop where players get managed by the injuries that keep occurring and thus getting worse that disable certain abilities – for example, an arm fracture will limit the accuracy of a weapon, whereas a leg injury will restrict the ability to run – which in turn means that adrenaline shots to mask the pain have to be carefully used at the risk of losing long-term health. The game also has a complex Hostage and Civilian Morality Mechanic through which you will constantly have to make decisions. On the one hand, rescuing the hostages means getting clues and other resources; on the other hand, there are moments when deciding to save yourself at the expense of the hostages will change the story and the allies you can count on for future stages. The game’s Improvised Trap Crafting System allows players to rig elevators with explosives, rewire security panels to electrocute doorways, and use fire extinguishers to create blinding smokescreens, turning the architectural skeleton against the invading mercenary forces. One-Life “Die Hard” Mode, in which if the player dies, the entire campaign will have to be restarted, along with a Real-Time Siege Clock that will constantly remind players that the time left for the building to collapse is slowly running out. So the objectives have to be completed as soon as possible, and are only two examples of the ways Live Hard, Die Hard manages to generate a very tight, action genre resource-starved atmosphere where only braininess and courage can get you out of the worst day ever alive.
