Geometry Dash is a rhythm-based action platformer that really takes this genre back to its simplest roots: a heart-stopping, one-tap challenge to your reflexes, memory, and being in perfect harmony with a cool soundtrack. The gameplay might seem quite simple at first, but actually, it’s very challenging; you only have to guide one symbol, be it a square, a spaceship, a ball, or a UFO, across a series of geometrical abstract levels, neon-lit. Your only control is a single tap or click. A tap, depending on the character form, makes the character jump, flip gravity, or rotate. The whole level is a mix of spikes, sawblades, gravity portals, and speed-changing rings that force you to sync your movements to the music. The main loop is hypnotic; it is a repetitive cycle of failure, learning, and getting into a state of flow. It is a certainty that you will die. Repeatedly, actually. But every death is a way to understand something better, a small change in timing, maybe a tweak in a few milliseconds, until finally, the pattern becomes clear, and your fingers know exactly what to do, and are in perfect rhythm with the powerful beat, without you having to think about it. The game itself offers a great number of levels that were made by the devs, each with creative design, new mechanics being added, and difficulties ranging from very easy to extremely hard.
