Flashing Lights enables a massive multiplayer online sandbox. Players adopt the roles of police, firefighters, and EMS in a huge city that is constantly evolving, making up heroic, chaotic, and even friendly stories through their interactions. Gameplay is a role-playing and sandbox experience where you pick your job and deal with incidents from both other players and computer-generated ones in a very detailed city environment. As a police officer, you chase after speeding cars, make traffic stops, and investigate crimes. You have access to a variety of real police equipment, including tasers, handcuffs, spike strips, and special pursuit vehicles. Playing as a firefighter, you get to the scenes of fires quickly, use hoses, axes, and other equipment to save people trapped in burning buildings, and fight fire and smoke. For EMS, you’re the one who gets there first when there’s an accident or medical emergency. You do triage, stabilize the patients, and drive them rapidly to the hospital in your ambulance. The core charm of Flashing Lights is the way these roles interconnect seamlessly; a chase in the police car may lead to a crash that sets the whole car on fire, and this not only calls the fire brigade and EMS but also requires these different professionals to work together to free the victims, put out the fire, and keep the area safe.
