Far Cry 5 (2018) is a fantastic open-world game set in the fictional Hope County, Montana, a rural American landscape taken over by the fanatical Eden’s Gate cult. The players take on the role of a rookie deputy sheriff tasked with freeing the region by dismantling the cult’s hierarchy and fighting a guerrilla war against Joseph Seed and his zealots—Faith, John, and Jacob. The gameplay is largely based on freedom of choice, allowing players to complete objectives in their preferred way.

For instance, they can choose to destroy cult outposts, free hostages, or even start a full-scale revolution by hiring Guns for Hire, who are all equipped with different skills, such as sniper support or attack dogs, along with the rest of the team. The game also introduces an enhanced advancement system, where the resistance points gained through construction and liberation can be used as currency to allow players to invest in boss battles.

The world is still unpredictable because of the random events that keep happening, like cult ambushes, wildlife attacks, and civilian skirmishes. At the same time, the nonstop co-op feature allows a friend to join in and experience the same joy of the led chaos. Moreover, the stylish arcade map editor is another way in which the game adds a new flair to the mission-creating experience.
