ENA: Dream BBQ is a visually stunning and mind-boggling experience that combines strange exploration with funny, puzzling gameplay. The players take to the road with the mysterious hero, ENA, in a colorful but nevertheless incoherent world that keeps changing from happy pastel scenery to very spooky, dark places with glitches that represent her broken mind. The game is basically about gathering strange “BBQ items” that are spread around the surreal places, each representing an abstract puzzle that is based on changing the reality in one of the following ways: changing the gravity, going back in time, or combining things in an impossible way.

The dialog options with the funny NPCs (for instance, a conscious hourglass or a sad piece of pizza) direct you to the different branches of the story and thus several endings that can be hilarious or even tragic in tone. The music, which combines lively chiptunes and harsh ambient compositions, changes tone to fit the game’s erratic nature while also being very dynamic, plus the hidden minigames, for example, a cook-off with a demonic grill or a rhythm-based dance-off, introduce more unexpected facets to the whole thing. Every frame is like a Salvador Dalí art piece, turning the gameplay as unpredictable as the dream logic that fuels ENA’s journey.
