Blasfemia is a very violent, rapid first-person shooter that combines the frenzied gunplay of DOOM and the dark, occult themes of Heretic, making a nonstop and atmospheric experience. Players equip themselves with a collection of twisted, demonic firearms, which include a flesh-ripping chaingun that shoots cursed teeth and a hellish flamethrower that gives off a trace of the damned while traversing nightmare-inducing, gothic stages that are overrun by disgusting creatures. The gameplay concentrates on offensive movement, with dash, wall-running, and double jump features helping players to get away from attacks and still keep on pushing.

The health is minimal, so players have to perform glory kills (which are “Sacrileges”) to get the hearts of enemies and regenerate. Besides that, the game has a magic system for blasphemous acts, which makes it possible for players to become a monstrous apostle for a short and very destructive firepower attack. It has its pixelated, infested with blood visuals, oppressive soundtrack, and very high difficulty level. Blasfemia is a letter of love to the classic “90s” shooters, but with a dark, sacrilegious twist that makes it different from the other ones that it is inspired by.
