Cult​‍​‌‍​‍‌ of Dawn takes colony management and turns it into a delicate balancing act of faith on an alien moon. The game is about keeping a small cult of sun-worshippers alive against the darkness that never ends, running out of food, and the mental problems from being in deep space for a long time. The characters in the story call you the “Guide”, and you do not give your followers orders directly. You use rituals and decrees to get them to your desired results. You assign them various tasks that are most important, such as picking the bioluminescent mushrooms, keeping the oxygen machines running, or researching the ancient alien artifacts to gain knowledge of the old technologies. Besides all the tasks, you are also responsible for the four basic needs (faith, hunger, rest, and sanity). If you fail to provide any two of them, your followers will go into heresy and rebellion. The main struggle is the never-ending decrease of “Solar Essence,” which is a very important material that can be obtained only through risky ventures on the moon’s surface during short, extremely dangerous sun-exposures. Since you have the sun’s light for such a short time, you also have to fight the oxygen deficit, temperature decrease, and wild animals. By mixing exploration and efficient use of limited resources, you can draw closer to the truth of the planet that will inevitably lead to a big theological dilemma: whether to become one with the alien world and thus, survive but lose your faith, or to destroy the alien world and keep your religion but face extinction. This way, the players will find themselves in a centro-chromatic, deeply thematic simulation where every choice is a new survival prayer, and leadership means leading the flock at the crossroads of faith and the very dark ​‍​‌‍​‍‌void.
