Ys X: Nordics add a new feature to the traditional action RPG blasting by adding a split combat system that enables the player to change between single and cooperative fighting modes – A plus in the game. Controlled separately, Adol or his new companion Carja is in a solo mode, being able to focus on each character’s abilities and strike counters to the opponent’s vulnerable points. The real uniqueness is the ‘Cross Action’ mode in which both heroes work together to produce highly damaging simultaneous moves that enable a fast and seamless combination of swift movements and powerful attacks. It is all action-packed, and the actions are sharp because, in combat, players have to block, parry, and use openings in the opponent’s Move set at the speed of real-time.

Based on the unprecedented territory of the Northern Sea implies rough coastlines, high fjords and secret islands, non-stop combining combat and travelling. With new sailing mechanics, ship possibilities to steer and define new territories and fight sea creatures turn maritime into an exciting feature. All these factors working in synergy allow for creating an exciting gameplay that stays true to the spirit of Ys yet adds new mechanics and a strategic twist to the overall experience.
