Akatori is an action-platformer defined by a fast pace, blending Japanese mythology with smooth, combo-driven combat and nonlinear exploration. You play as a young shrine maiden who uses a transforming staff that can change into three different forms—a quick sword, a heavy hammer, and a long-reaching chain—each of which has its own attack methods, movement capabilities, and uses when solving puzzles. The main gameplay loop is based on “combat flow and traversal” since you need to link together attacks, parries, and dashes to fill up a “spirit gauge”, which then allows you to perform powerful special moves and also heals you.
